The rolling hills of Delgany Golf Club welcomed the TopGolfer Tour back once again, for one of our regular yet popular stops.
Following in the footsteps of legends, TopGolfer players had the opportunity to stroll across the same blades of grass as Eamonn Darcy, John O’Leary, Harry Bradshaw and Jimmy Martin – four Ryder Cup hero’s associated with this esteemed Co. Wicklow venue.
The dismal weather vanished and TopGolfer players finally got a chance to get the shorts on and a layer of tan onto the milky whites. The sun particularly shined on Johnaton Duggan from Delvin Castle Golf Club, whose superb 72 gross was good enough to claim victory in the Delgany JSC by 2-shots. Johnathan now goes forward to the TopGolfer Tour Championship Finals at Fota Island this October.
Nicholas Armstrong from the Castle Golf Club followed up a leading qualifier performance at his home club on Saturday with a fine effort of 74 gross, to claim 2nd place. As an Order of Merit Competitor, this performance sees Nicholas storm up the leader board.
Flying the flag for Delgany Golf Club was Brian Murphy. His gross score of 75 saw him clinch 3rd place on count back. This was a truly superb accomplishment by Brian, who was the only home player to finish in the Top 5.
This score was matched by John Rogers from Mountrath Golf Club, whose gross 75 was good enough to edge Order of Merit competitor Karl O’Neill for the final place in the prizes.
Prize winners (1st - 4th) should email dermot@topgolfer.ie to claim their prize.
CSS for the day was 71 (+2).
